The Zulu workers have continued work on the pasture for the horses that CornMaster covets so much. Many people confront CornMaster to discuss if 3 horses are worth generations of war against the Zulus. CornMaster refuses to change his plan. Another group of settlers is spotted in Zulu territory, rather than allow the vermin to spread Odisseius orders and immediate attack. Our warriors move south to capture the settler and archers move in west to take some Zulu workers.

800 BC: Knowing his military strength cannot take the Zulu cities, Odisseius orders a tactical retreat, taking the workers back with his armies. He buys a new Catapult in Cornmasterburg and orders the city to begin construction of another, as they have finished the walls as planned. Odisseius also orders the upgrade of the bows to composites, improving his army as he prepares for war.

Round 5:

President Conrad of the English Empire(1600AD - 1775AD)

After the death of Captain Obvious, a great need arises in the land. That need, is the need for a new leader. The English media is quoted as saying “Captain Obvious was our leader, and now that he is dead, we will need a new one. We will continue on his gloried tradition of stating the obvious. End Quote”

At the first sitting of cabinet after Obvious' death, the remaining leaders of England need to choose who they will endorse in an election for a new leader. Over the last few centuries, England has conquered many foreign lands. The English empire itself is only 59% English, with large minorities of Russians (15%) and Zulu (26%). Minister Conrad votes for a leadership of Technocrats: “Who best to steer our nation in this troubled time then a group of highly qualified individuals trained in the art of running an empire?”

Lieutenant Jack Ass speaks up: “A bunch of pencil pushing bureaucrats would leave our nation defenseless against the many enemies of the empire, that I may have forged in my years of war against them. You can tell a lot about a man while trying to kill him, and I know that they are also trying to kill us!”

“What about the children? Won't someone think about the children?” says the wife of Minister Verne. “We should not want our children growing up in a nation of warmongering people like Lieutenant Ass would prefer. We would raise a whole nation of jack….asses. I don't think anyone would want that!”

The meeting ends that day with no cabinet endorsement for leader, but an election takes place two weeks from that day as laid out by Captain Obvious before his death. The candidates for President are:

  • Hermes Conrad, leader of the Technocrat Alliance;
  • Richard Nixon, who enjoys running nations in all time periods;
  • Simon Diamond Jim, leader of the Freeman Alliance;
  • Click-Clack Harvey, leader of the Minority Party who represents Zulu interests;
  • Pencil-Wig FuzzyBottom, leader of the Pure English Alliance who represents English rights in the new multi-national empire.

Richard Nixon is eliminated from contention before the first ballot as it was discovered he was covertly spying on his opponents before the election.

Simon Diamond Jim is eliminated on the first ballot.

On the second ballot, Conrad wins 45% of the vote, FuzzyBottom 44% of the vote, and Harvey, 11% of the vote. To avoid a third ballot, both sides try to form a coalition with Harvey.

FuzzyBottom makes an offer: “We promise when we deport your kind from the great English nation, we will put blankets and not sandpaper on the chairs we will strap you to. Additionally, those blankets will not be infected with smallpox.”

Conrad makes his offer: “Seriously? I could promise to let him keep his house, but kick him in the face twice a day and he would take my offer.”

Conrad and Harvey form the Technocrat - Minority coalition or TAMP for short.

1600AD - President Conrad assesses the state of the empire. “Balanced economy, lots of land, positive trade with room to grow, maybe things aren't as bad as we thought. What does the rest of the world think of us?”

“Ahh, I see. We have a long road ahead of rebuilding relations with other nations.”
